This policy explains what data Accelerator Keys LLC (“we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers:
If you have a question about this policy, email [email protected].
| Data | Source | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pages viewed, clicks, device type, approximate location, and a random visitor ID | Google Analytics (cookies _ga, _ga_*) |
To understand which pages and features people use |
| Email address, if you enter it in a pop-up | OptinMonster | To send you the download link and product emails |
| IP address and browser details in server logs | Netlify (hosting) | Security and to keep the site running |
Our homepage embeds a video from Vimeo. Pages load jQuery from the jQuery CDN. Each of these services sees your IP address and browser details when the page loads.
The website does not use Netlify Forms, a chat widget, Hotjar, or a Facebook pixel.
| Data | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | Our licensing server and Stripe | To create your account and send your license key |
| Payment card details and billing address | Stripe only | To process payment. Card numbers never reach our servers. |
| Plan, seat count, subscription status, and Stripe IDs | Our licensing server | To manage your subscription and licenses |
| Order events (no personal data) | Google Analytics | To measure the checkout flow |
Free trial. The app sends your Mac’s network hardware address (MAC address), which we use as a device identifier, to our licensing server to start and check the 14-day trial. When you enter your email for the trial, we send you a verification code and add your email to our contact list so we can send you setup tips and product updates. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email.
License activation and checks. When you activate, and about once an hour while the app runs, the app sends to our licensing server:
We use this to count activated devices against your plan and to let you move a license to a new Mac. If you do not want your computer name shared, change it in System Settings → General → About → Name.
Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry. The report contains the error, the app version, your macOS version and Mac model, your license email, and the Alt key sequence that was in progress at that moment (letters and digits only, such as ALT, H, O). The report does not contain the text of your documents.
Software updates. The app checks acceleratorkeys.com for updates. That request may include basic, anonymous system details such as the app version, macOS version, and Mac model. It does not include your email or a device identifier.
Local data. The app stores your license details in an encrypted file in ~/Library/Application Support/AcceleratorKeys/. It does not write a log file unless you turn on debug logging yourself.
Accelerator Keys needs the macOS Accessibility permission so it can see when you press the Alt (Option) key in Excel or PowerPoint and press the matching ribbon button for you.
The portal at app.acceleratorkeys.com stores:
You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email. We do not store a password. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes. The portal sets a session cookie (valid for 30 days) and a security (CSRF) cookie. It does not load Google Analytics or any other tracker.
If you manage a team plan and upload a CSV of team members, we store only the email and name columns, and only to assign license seats and email the keys.
We use SendGrid to send:
Copies of some transactional emails (license keys, download links) are also sent to our support inbox so we can help you if one goes missing.
