v2.2.0 is ready for macOS Golden Gate 27 on launch day. It also opens ribbon menus faster, makes the Option key dependable in every situation, and lets IT teams roll out Accelerator Keys to a whole company with Jamf or any MDM

Apple releases macOS Golden Gate 27 today, and v2.2.0 is built for it. Update before you upgrade your Mac and your shortcuts keep working without a pause. We also spent the summer on the part of the app you use most: the moment between pressing a key and seeing Excel or PowerPoint respond.

Full support for macOS Golden Gate 27

Accelerator Keys is tested and ready on macOS Golden Gate 27 from day one. Every shortcut, the ribbon overlay, and the menu bar icon work the same way they did on Tahoe. Older Macs are still covered too: v2.2.0 supports macOS 12 Monterey and later, on both Apple silicon and Intel.

Upgrading today? Install v2.2.0 first, then run the macOS update. If you upgrade the Mac first, just open Accelerator Keys and accept the update when it appears.

Menus and dropdowns open faster

Some ribbon shortcuts open a menu or a dropdown before they get to the command. Until now, Accelerator Keys waited a fixed moment for each one to appear. On a fast Mac that wait was wasted time. On a busy Mac it was sometimes not long enough.

Now the app watches Office directly and moves on the instant the menu is ready. Sequences like Alt+H, O, I or Alt+W, F, F land faster, and they land the same way every time.

An Option key you can trust

The keyboard listener is rebuilt from the ground up. Three things you may have hit before are gone:

• Launch order no longer matters. Open Excel first and Accelerator Keys second, and Option works on the first press.
• Fast typing stays in the ribbon. Rapid sequences never leak stray letters into your cells.
• Double-Option cancels cleanly. Press Option twice to back out, and you stay in the Office window you were in.

An overlay that gets out of your way

The ribbon overlay now behaves the way you expect a native Mac control to behave:

• Click anywhere to dismiss it. Click a cell or a slide and the overlay clears. Your next Option press opens it again at once.
• Escape works inside dropdowns. If a shortcut opened a native Office dropdown, Escape closes it and returns you to the previous level of the overlay.
• It never gets stuck. Switch windows or apps and the overlay clears itself.

Deploy to your whole company with MDM

This is the big new feature for teams. An IT admin can now push Accelerator Keys to every Mac from Jamf Pro or any MDM that installs packages and profiles:

• One signed, notarized installer. Upload the PKG and scope it to your Macs.
• One site key. Every Mac activates on launch, silently. Nobody types a key or signs in.
• No permission prompts. A configuration profile grants Accessibility access before the first launch.
• Updates on your schedule. The settings profile turns off in-app updates, so you ship each new version through your MDM when you are ready.

Two rare hangs fixed

A small number of users saw the app freeze at startup or when they opened the license window. Both causes are fixed.
